A whine-y blog entry

It could have been a great day, but it wasn't.

Today was Tamsyn's birthday. We really didn't celebrate it because we did so earlier, before Sarah left. However, I stopped on the way home and got a pumpkin pie. I had looked for a carrot cake at Bake 'n Cakes, but they didn't have one. When I walked in the door and yelled that I was home, there was no answer. I yelled a couple more times, but then I heard Tamsyn upstairs. She was on the phone. I figured she was talking to one of her sisters.

So, I sat in the living room and watched TV. After a few minutes, Tamsyn yelled that Sarah was on the phone. That made no sense to me, because it was 3am in Oman. Anyway, I got on the phone. It was Sarah. A little over a minute later, the phone card ran out of time. Call over.

Here I was watching a stupid TV show while I could have been on the phone. At least listening. It made me very sad. Of course, I'm thrilled that Sarah is doing well; I heard bits second-hand. But I was so close to hearing her on the phone. So close.

Could have been a great day. Turned out a sad one, for me.
